Artist Bio
The artist, Nancy R.M. Whitin, is an internationally collected equine artist, horse owner, and former board member of the Society of American Historians.
Whitin has studied with the Silvermine Guild, the Rhode Island School of Desgin, and the Newport Art Museum. Whitin was honored to have been selected as one of the fifteen artists invited to participate in the 2012 invitational exhibit Our Shared Planet: Examining Animals as the Inspiration for Art, at the Parsons Gallery, the Lexington Arts and Crafts Society. She has particpated in the 2012 (and 2013) Pastels by Invitation: An Intimate Group of Nationally Recognized Pastelists held in Chatham, MA. In 2014, her RainProof Donkey was a national finalist in the 2014 Artist's Magazine Annual Competiton. Her horse paintings have been exhibited by the prestigious American Academy of Equine Art in Kentucky.
In her position as V.Pres. of the History Book Club, Whitin was surrounded by Civil War manuscripts and books. As a horse owner she is constantly amazed by equine intelligence.
